Liaison Group staff were treated to a free optical and dental check up on Friday 6th June 2019. This is part of a staff wellness program that is run by the Human Resource Department and was initiated to increase awareness of oral and optical hygiene. More of the emphasis created during the talk was on maintaining good oral hygiene and seeking regular oral examination in a timely manner.
Speaking during the sessions Dr. Phillip Mwakazi of Taji Dental said that dental health in Kenya is notably taken for granted.”Most people I know think that if nothing in their mouth hurts, they’re fine. Your mouth is a gateway to your body, it is therefore important that you see a dentist at least once a year. In the event that there is a problem, treatment is less painful and cheaper”.
We spend a lot of time on our computers and therefore we are at risk of having our eyesight damaged over time. It is important that we take breaks in between working hours by stepping away from the computer for at least 20 minutes a day.
